South Dakota Scholarships 

South Dakota Specific Scholarships - LHS Database
The LHS scholarship database includes scholarships specific to South Dakota students. The scholarships are organized by month applications are due. 

Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation - Scholarships
SFACF offers more that 50 different scholarship opportunities available to graduating seniors. Awards range from $250 to $5000 per academic year. Students can research scholarships and apply directly through the foundation website. Applications become available December 15th with a deadline of March 15th. 

SD Department of Education - Scholarships
The SD DOE scholarship page provides information on the following scholarships: Build Dakota Scholarship, Critical Teaching Needs Scholarship, Dakota Corps Scholarship, Need Based Scholarships, Davis-Bahcall Scholars Program, Hagen-Harvey Scholarship, South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship, Jump Start Scholarship, US Senate Youth Program Scholarship, and US Presidential Scholars Program.

Reduced Tuition Opportunities

South Dakota/Minnesota Reciprocity
South Dakota residents planning to attend a University of Minnesota institution must apply to the Board of Regents for reciprocity status. All other Minnesota state university or community college should give reciprocity automatically.

Western Undergraduate Exchange
Students in Western states may enroll in participating public college programs at a reduced tuition level. States that participate include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Some institutions are on a first-come, first-served basis. While others may only offer designated programs at the discounted rate.

Student Resume

Complete a student resume to make the scholarship application process easier. Include the following information:
  • School Activities: Involvement in activities as well as honors/awards and leadership positions.
  • Community Activities: Involvement in activities as well as honors/awards and leadership positions.
  • Volunteer Activities: List activities and hours completed.
  • Academic Information: GPA, class rank, accelerated/AP coursework, and honors/awards.
  • Employment: List job title, summary of duties, and hours worked per week.
